HOW WE HELPED

Dog Tag Inc addresses challenges faced by military heroes and their families through their five-month fellowship, which they operate twice annually in DC and Chicago. They offer a holistic approach to support post-9/11 veterans with service-connected disabilities, as well as military spouses and caregivers, during the military-to-civilian transition. They provide resources, tools, and networks to help them realize their visions of success.

Program components include:

  1. Education: Dog Tag partners with Georgetown University (DC) and Loyola University (Chicago) to provide fellows with a business-centric set of courses customized for their needs.
  2. Hands-on Learning: Rotations: Through rotations, fellows learn the operational side of a bakery and a 501c3 by taking on the role of consultants as they complete two case studies: bakery operations/finance/marketing, and strategic communications/fundraising.
  3. Learning Labs: Learning Labs are a curated series of workshops and lectures from entrepreneurs and business leaders designed to facilitate career exploration and skill-building.
  4. Wellbeing & Reflection: Dog Tags fellowship’s transformative power comes from intentional time set aside for fellows to focus on their wellbeing. This includes dedicated reflection programming, journaling, and participation in a theater-based storytelling course.
  5. Capstone Project: Fellows bring together frameworks, perspectives, and ideas about how businesses function learned throughout the fellowship to create a vetted business plan that they can pursue.
